Makes irritating noise in rain/snow : Goodyear GY-WB765-24 Assurance Black 24'' Premium Rubber Graphite Coated Wiper Blade
I replaced my old wiper blades with Good Year Assurance blades five days ago. Today I encountered a rainstorm on the highway and could not see the road. My vision was so impaired, I had difficulty getting off the road. Why? Because the spring tension on the blades was so strong that as the blades moved over the contours of the windshield, the tips of the blades were actually lifting the center of the blades and keeping the blades from sweeping the water from the windshield. No matter the intensity of a storm, such performance is dangerous.
Take a good look at the design before you buy. It is a single flat spring design held down on the windshield only in the center. The maximum pressure is obviously at the tips. So the blade is given to lifting the center off of the glass. There is good reason why the leading brands use blades with control arms that distribute the holddown pressure evenly over the length of the blade.
The Good Year blades are cheaper to buy, but safety is more important.
